And Starring in The Itsy Bitsy Spider....

This is our own version of the infamous song. Hope you enjoy it! He took three steps today on his own...hmm. We'll see how long it takes to see him up and running! He is babbling new "words, getting more determined, and showing his gentle side more and more each day. He was able to meet his Great Aunt and his grandma's cousins today. Of course, they all doted on him. Each person that meets him comments on how attached he seems to me (Mary). Of course, this is what I prayed for. This is what I longed for.

Gee, what a cool pool! He loves the pool and his bath and pretty much has no fear of the water...scares mom and makes dad laugh!

Summer Fun

Summer is flying by so quickly. We are having a blast with Micah, watching him grow, develop an Ethiopian piece of strong will, and trying to walk! He continues to be very healthy and has two teeth to add to his personality. More are on the way, I've been reminded this week with his crankiness and constant drooling. His sleeping patterns are quite unpredictable, but other than that, he has developed his own little routine. He's finally gotten used to the car seat, especially if he has something to snack on! He spent several nights at Vacation Bible School with us and loved to dance and clap. He's got some rhythm, let me tell you!!

It's morning here and I'm listening to him babble those cute "I'm rested, fed and want to talk" sounds. I often think his arrival is still a dream and that this whole experience isn't real yet. I pray I will never let a day pass that I don't get on my knees to say thanks to Jesus for allowing us the unspeakable honor of being parents of all of our children. I love the Chris Tomlin song we sing at church that says, "How can I keep from singing your praise? I am loved by the King and it makes my heart want to sing!!"

Celebrate Good Times, Come On!

I promised a shot of Mr. Independence and this picture captured it perfectly! Ornery, ornery, ornery!!! We had two days of 4th of July fun with friends.  Micah didn't mind the fireworks at all and actually tried grabbing them in the air!  This is our whole family, from l to r:  Hannah, Bethany, Dennis, Micah, Mary, Kelsay and Andrew.  Micah had his second pediatrician's visit yesterday and had gained almost two pounds and had grown one inch.  He is at a whopping 17.5 pounds and 26 inches long.  He's still in the 3rd percentile for his height and weight, but at the top of the 3rd!  We are gaining!  He is officially a table food eater and insists on feeding himself for the most part.  I suppose baby food is beneath him or something.  It's hard to believe that he will turn 10 months on the 12th of July.  We are working on more teeth, so perhaps corn on the cob will be our next choice!

P.S.  i think it is WAY cool that I still have not purchased ANY diapers or wipes as of today.  Thanks friends and families for great shower gifts and donations!!!

Independence Day!

This refers to our country and Micah, actually! Mr. Independent is ruling the household as you can imagine. We've passed our one month anniversary together on June 30th! The last month has been almost surreal when I sit for a second and think through it all. Sometimes I don't believe having Micah really here is real. And then other times, like 3 in the morning, I know for sure that I'm up rocking him for the third time!!

We have SO much to be thankful for as we continue to be amazed at Micah's good health and development. He has had no health problems and is right on target, if not ahead, developmentally. His most recent venture is trying to maneuver the two stairs up to our dining room. Up is no problem, down is another story! His two bottom are white and shiny when he grins and baby food is pretty much a thing of the past. He has skipped little baby and went right to "I want to eat with my hands and give me a cracker, please!"

I couldn't resist an Old Navy 4th of July outfit for him, so as we celebrate this weekend, pics will be abundant of course! My deepest gratitude goes to all who have prayed us through this 20 month process and who have offered support and help as we have gotten acquainted with each other. God is so good, undeservedly so.
